Great Herbs for Helping with Herpes

Herpes is a viral infection… there is oral Herpes and also genital Herpes and many people suffer from these conditions. But there is hope… there are many great herbal products that will help.

Ginseng is great for reducing the symptoms of Herpes. A University study showed that ginseng was a good antiviral agent that worked well for Herpes and especially oral Herpes.

Andrographis Herb is great for strengthening the immune system and studies have shown that andrographis may show promise in controlling the Herpes virus. Andrographis is also used in combination with Echinacea and Goldenseal for an even more potent anti-viral ability.

Olive Leaf has show great results in clinical trials helping to limit the Herpes virus and was found to kill the virus in clinical trials…  and also worked well for reducing the symptoms — and it’s a good anti-fungal and anti-yeast agent.

Studies show that Lemon Balm works well as a topical application for cold sores.

Aloe Vera in studies has been used for the treatment of genital Herpes symptoms… being used as a topical agent applied multiple times a day.

Licorice Root has been used for Herpes and works well. It contains glycyrrhizic acid that works agains the Herpes virus… but remember licorice should only be used for short periods of time.

Lysine Rich Foods – there seems to be a connection to high levels of lysine and lowering the symptoms of Herpes. Lysine rich foods include— beans, eggs. yeast, beef, chicken, and even some cheese. Also stay away from Arginine… chocolate, nuts, grains, and fish… these seem to exacerbate the condition.

Elderberry is a good antioxidant that boosts the immune system and can be used for fighting off the Herpes infection… along with Garlic which is a good old stand by for boosting the immune system.

Astragalus works well for fighting off the Herpes virus and boosting the immune system too!

Here is a Chinese formula that contains jujube fruit, cinnamon, ginger, peony, and licorice that works well for increasing circulation, boosting the immune system, and works against the Herpes virus. There are many Traditional Chinese Medicine formulas for Herpes… and you might consider seeing a good TCM specialist.

Ganoderma or Reishi Mushroom boosts the immune system and helps in Herpes symptoms.

And St. Johns Wort, Sage, Peppermint, Thyme and Rosemary also works well for helping with Herpes.

About Herbs – All these herbs should be used for no more than 7 to 10 days and then a weeks break and then come back and use them again if need be. It’s important to always take the least amount of any herb needed. We should always be kind to our liver that filters out all toxins from out system. Also start out with one herb at the lowest dose in capsules that can be found and use that for 7 to 10 days… that may be all you need. If the challenge persists take a break from herbs then add another herb and take those two together for another 7 to 10 days.

This process might have to be repeated a few times.

Remember use the least amount of herbs needed, and build up, soon you will find the right combination for you. Listen to your body, your body has great wisdom, within 30 minutes of taking the herbs check in with your challenge… is it better? Remember every person has a different body, and not every herb works for everyone just like some antibiotics and anbtideoression medications don’t work for some people. Herbs are no different, listen to your bodies wisdom and heal.

Stress – Remember stress lowers your immune system… so also take care of the stress in your life and boost your immune system by being good to your body. Exercise, eat right, meditate and take supplements. Also taking Vitamins such as Vitamin C… and the good B complex supplement will also help with Herpes.

Most of all prevention is key… thus stopping the spread of the virus.
