Healing a Cold or Flu Naturally With Herbs

If you have a cold or flu you can treat it naturally with herbs and other natural ways of healing your body.

First of all make sure you are drinking lots of water… so many people become dehydrated and that sends them to hospital. Even if you are not feeling thirsty, drink some water, it’s easier to get up and go to the bathroom than become dehydrated.

Take White Willow Bark for fevers, headaches, and for the discomfort of aches and pains. If the pains continues try Devil’s Claw instead… it will do the trick.

Take your vitamins! Yes your body needs all the vitamins and minerals it can get to create enzymatic pathways that help you to heal. Taking vitamins and especially vitamin C and Zinc are very important. In fact taking Zinc in many different forms at the first sign of being sick… will shorten the recovery time of a cold or flu.

Take Algae! Spirulina and Chlorella will give you all the nutrients and just about every protein you need to recover… plus they alkalize your body at the same time. Also taking Turmeric and Garlic will boost your immune system and they are great antiviral compounds. Also Elderberry juice is great for speeding along healing and adrographis is also important plus good old Echinacea and Golden Seal will help, and don’t forget to take some boneset too!

Have some soup! Yes good old soup does make a difference. All the nutrients of soup is captured in the broth and it’s easy to digest and thus really helps you to get better. There have been many studies about soup for colds and flues… and they all show that it really does help.

Use a humidifier. Breathing in some Eucalyptus steam will help clear your head and open up your lungs. If you have access to a steam bath that’s great too… nothing like take some steam when you are not feeling great.

Nasal irrigation using a neti pot works well for clearing your nasal passages. A little bit of salt water will do your head, nose, and throat a lot of good. Pour the water in one nostril and let it come out the other… doing this a couple times a day will help.

Ask for help. Sometimes you need to stay in bed, don’t be so proud ask for help, everyone needs help now and then. Ask a friend or a loved one to make you dinner and come over and check on you… perhaps you can return the favor one day.

Drink Chamomile Tea at night to help you sleep… or even take some Valerian Tea at night so you can get your rest. During the day have some green tea or black tea… with lemon and a little bit of  honey that is great for your immune system. Also drink your tea straight… milk will create more mucus and phlegm. If you feel sick to your stomach Black Tea and soda crackers will help. Or try Ginger Tea, or Licorice Root Tea, or Peppermint Tea, or Raspberry Leaf Tea, and even taking some Slipper Elm Powder or Marshmallow Root Powder will help sooth your stomach.

If you are coughing then try my all natural cough syrup that I have written about before in other articles, it works wonders coughs… and help you to feel warm all over and comforted.

Rest! No matter what you do your body will need to rest to recover. Going to work on days you don’t feel great is only going to infect others and slow your healing process. Take as many days as you need too in order to get better. Some people after a couple of days feel a little better and then go back to work and end up relapsing… and then being sick for a long time.

Listen to some soothing music… it will do your body good! Music actually boosts your immune system and allows you to heal faster. So relax and listen… it will help you heal!

Have someone give you a soothing back rub that will help you feel comforted and allow you to  relax and wind down and eventually fall asleep.

Read some great literature. New studies show that reading poetry, Shakespeare, Hemingway, or other powerful literary giants creates changes in the brain, and that translates to healing in the body. Every thing you do while sick can help you heal. Stay away from horror books and suspense books… read something relaxing that will create endorphins in your brain and help you to heal.
