4 Foods that Cure Diarrhea Naturally

We all get diarrhea once in a while and we end up taking that pink stuff from the drug store and feeling better sooner or later.

But there are natural food alternatives that will cure diarrhea in no time… here are a few that work well.

Green Bananas – Cook Green Bananas are soothing to the GI tract and have lots of resistant starch in them that help to create the perfect environment for probiotic bacteria growth. At the same time Cooked Green Bananas will stop the diarrhea… and are bland and easy to digest and work quickly. Just boil some green bananas with the skin on… and then peel off the skin and put them in water for a little while. They will stay firm no matter how long you boil them for… just chop them up and eat one or two 3 Cooked Green Bananas times a day. Keep extra Cooked Green Bananas in water in the frig.

Rice Water  – Rice water has been around since people started eating rice. A study in a medical journal showed that rice water worked better than electrolytes for stopping diarrhea and it also works great for young children. Just boil 1 cup of rice in 6 cups of water for 45 minutes, then strain and put in a plastic or glass container and keep in the frig. Drink this water as much as you like and it will do the trick. Some people even add a little bit of vanilla to the water and perhaps some honey. Rice water also contains minerals such as sodium and potassium… and small amounts of selenium, manganese, and magnesium which are important for rehydrating.

Cinnamon Vine Tuber – Chinese Yam, Cinnamon Vine Tuber or Name’ as it is called in Latin America it’s called Name’ is very soothing to the GI tract and will stop diarrhea. And it works well for calming the GI tract, ending cramps, soothing way abdominal pain in cases of IBS, diverticulosis, and other GI challenges. Plus Chinese Yam is a good anti-inflammatory food that heals inflamed intestines and colon irritation. Just boil some Chinese Yam in water until tender and store in the frig covered with water because it dries out. It can be mashed like potatoes, and it tastes a bit like potatoes… but Chinese Yam is much more soothing to the GI tract. You can buy Chinese Yam at Asian markets and in some Latin American markets.

Coconut Water – Coconut Water is full of lots of minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iodine, and many other trace minerals, and enzymes, phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, and simple proteins. It has been used for centuries to treat cholera, flues, dysentery. It’s also very soothing to the GI tract and helps with diarrhea, and rehydrates the body.  Coconut water can be found in your local health food store and lately it has been packaged and sold at supermarkets. Very healing for the body in general, and used in conjunction with Chinese Yam or Green Bananas it works well for diarrhea.

Cooked Green Bananas, Rice Water, and Coconut Water can be found almost every where, and if you are lucky and find Chinese Yam or Name’ it’s very soothing to the GI tract too.
