There are a number of things that cause obesity, here are just a few… and what we can do to make changes. Right now we have as many people dying of obesity as we do of hunger… things have changed… but there is hope.
We have GMO foods that are known to increase weight and cause problems with all our hormones. We have more toxins in our food than any time in history that are playing havoc with our bodies. Even plastics in every cell in our body! If we meditate and find our own strength inside to say “NO” and stop the crazy world and work locally for a better planet, and work together we can stop it all, but we have to be at peace first.
We have a society that does not walk… we sit in front of the TV and worry… in Europe people walk and then walk some more. Walking is a type of meditation, a way to release tensions and to find a way to rid the mind of endless chatter, and contemplate our existence… thus we don’t eat all the time.
We have so much fast food that’s packed full of fats and calories that are killing us, and we have introduced those foods into China and Europe and other places… and they too are becoming obese. Meditation allows us to come to a conclusions about what’s healthy for our body… and what we should eat… and what we should not eat… plus we create more intuition and more common sense. When the chatter stops, we start to waking up… and we start loving the one we see in the mirror.
We eat to deal with our emotions. Instead of going inside and touching the one thing that needs to be touch – our feelings. Most people will do anything to make them selves feel better other than touch the fire of feelings. To touch feelings in meditation can make all the difference in the world, or at least stand close to the fire so that sooner or later we understand that there’s nothing to be afraid of in the first place. And when we finally touch our feelings we calm down we feel at ease and all the tension disappears and thus we don’t need to eat.
We have not been taught to be in silence… to enjoy being alone and to love the sound of our own heart beating. We seem to need noise going all the time to fill the void, with TV, Music, Talking, and more…. all of this distracts us from going inside and finding only thing that’s important… LOVE – and meditation is the answer here too… it’s the place were we find self love… INSIDE.
To meditate is to heal and to understand ourselves. Back through history we did not have all the fancy gadgets and distractions…. we read a lot, talked, and discussed what we were feeling. And meditation makes your brain bigger and brings about organization of the mind, and cultivates the mind, allowing frustrations to disappear. And everyone wants a bigger brain and to be able to figure things out faster and thus meditation makes common sense.
We are afraid to know ourselves and our own truth. We would rather be so busy doing anything that we eat ourselves to death. We will go to movies, go for rides, go any where and do anything to keep from knowing who we are deep down inside. Meditation is the answer, it creates calm and we don’t need to do anything, we are at home in our own skin… thus we have deep peace, thus eating is something we do to live… rather than living to eat.
We are stressed to the max and have no time for ourselves… and that creates cravings of all kinds. Time to slow down and have less and enjoy life more… and meditation is part of that too. To come home and sit in silence for 15 minutes after work makes all the difference in the world… much better than self medicating with a beer or glass of wine and sitting in front of the TV.
We are nature deprived… many inner city kids are so disconnected from nature that they don’t even know where milk comes from, or understand the cycle of life. Nature is a natural sedative, take a child out into the wild backpacking and you will see a instant change come over him. There are no motor bikes zipping by, no large trucks honking horns, no noise at all… other than the birds, wind, and the water ripping by. And being in nature is another way of connecting to the deeper truth that we hold inside… being in nature is another way to meditate.
And what is meditation – it’s cultivating the mind, balancing both hemispheres of the brain and creating a constant place of peace that cannot be taken away.
I have seen inmates in prison change completely with meditation, children calm down and find peace and no longer having ADD, even very disturbed individuals calm down and find something more important in their lives… thus be ok with their feeling and stop hurting themselves. Plus a deep sense of knowing and understanding of something powerful, great, and amazing… SILENCE.
Meditation is connected to a lot of spiritual ways of life… but it can be a secular way of dealing with life in general. Meditation can even be a mechanical way of turning off the mind for a while by just concentrating on one word over and over again. In fact meditation is the only time that the mind shuts off for the most part. Even in sleep the mind is busy… always doing something.
More rest. Meditation allows a person to have deep rest. People who meditate daily need less sleep and thus accomplish more because they are focused and feel at ease.
There you have it… one simple way to get rid of obesity… finding our deep seated truth.
We have so much to learn from silence.
