Here is a great Whole Foods/Plant Based recipe that will do your body good.
This is so simple you can make it in your sleep.
Nutritious and full of energy these bars make a wonderful quick breakfast… or anytime bar.
Ingredients:
4 – Cups of Organic Rolled Oats
1 1/2 – Cups of Organic Dried Blueberries or you could use Goji Berries
1 1/2 – Cups of Organic Dried Cranberries or you could use fresh
3/4 – Cup of Yacon Syrup or Agave Nectar
1/2 – Cup of Organic Cacao Powder
1/2 – Cup of Organic Cacao Nibs – Bits of the Chocolate Bean itself. – Nice Crunch.
2 – Cups of Veggie Protein Powder, you can find this at your local health food store.
1 – Teaspoon of Cinnamon
1 – Tablespoon of Pure Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 – Teaspoons of green tea powder – another energy boosting agent, or you could add 1/4 cup of Maca Root Powder if you like.
And enough water to make it all stick together.
Just mix everything together and place on a cookie sheet that is sprayed with a little cooking oil.
Then put in an oven set on low until pretty much dry.
Then let cool completely and cut and remove from the pan.
Now everything will stick together and you can cut them into bars.
Don’t let them burn… keep the heat very low.
Simple, cost effective, and tastes great.
You can vary the recipe if you find you like it sweeter or less sweet, it’s your recipe, play with it until you find exactly what you want… add things and be creative.
Oatmeal is one of the best soluble forms of fiber that will drastically reduce your cholesterol and triglycerides and help you lose weight.
Cacao contains theobromine which is a stimulant that is not addictive and works wonders for depression and also helps with PMS. In the brain the production of the neurotransmitter “Anandamide” is increased… and thus there is an increase in endorphins and serotonin and that causes a blissful soothing feeling… full of pleasure and elation. Plus it also stimulates the mind in a natural way.
Cacao also has many wonderful fatty acids that help to lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL or good cholesterol. Raw cacao also contains a huge amount of antioxidants (more than 10 times the amount found in green tea, blue berries, goji berries, red wine, and even grape seed extract). Those antioxidants prevent diseases such as cardiovascular disease, strokes, and cancer… and fight off free radicals thus helping to slow the aging process and boost the immune system.
Yacon Syrup has a glycemic index of 1 which is just about as low as you can get. The lower the Glycemic Index the slower it breaks down into sugars and the lower the number the better the sweetener for diabetics. Yacon Syrup has a much lower glycemic index than Agave Nectar.
Tastes a little bit like molasses, but the carbs cannot be absorbed so you get the flavor with little or no calories.
Yacon Syrup contains FOS which is important for colon health and helps with digestion.
Enjoy a Healthy Life!
