Over the last 100 years we have developed a huge habit of taking something every time we have aches, pains, can’t sleep, can’t go to the bathroom, can’t think straight, have a stomachache, and more.

Taking herbs, supplements, and even needed life saving drugs is all well and good… but we have created a society in which we have to take something no matter what.

Many times the urge to take something is caused by stress. Stress creates a large portion of the physical symptoms. Our world is a stressful place and that creates physical changes that causes rashes, migraines, headaches, back pain, fatigue, and many more problems… and allows genes to be expressed that cause disease.

So what can we do?

Isn’t it better to go to the root of the problem instead of taking something for the symptom of the problem? That’s kind of like not liking your spouse and coming down with ulcers because you’re stressed out… instead of taking action and making a change.

It boils down to taking action in our lives instead of taking a pill, an herb, or a supplement to make us feel better. And taking action is about preventing diseases such as cardiovascular disease from being a couch potato, metabolic syndrome from not eating right, lung disease and cancer from smoking and drinking… and much more.

Also people have reactions to food and drinks, such as allergies and intolerances that cause symptoms. And instead of reaching for symptom calming herbs, supplements, or drugs. What about looking at what’s causing the symptom and removing the offending agent — getting at the root of the problem.

There was a woman with headaches, body aches, her heart was racing, her blood pressure was soaring to 150 over 90. All she wanted to do was take a pill to make it all go away. But there was something wrong, there was an offending agent that was causing problem. With help she found she was having a huge reaction to the caffeine in coffee, tea, and chocolate and just about anything else that had caffeine. As soon as she stopped taking any sort of caffeine all her symptoms disappeared. – True Story!

Another man was always sick, he was over weight, and was not feeling good at all, he had high blood pressure, was pre-diabetic, and was stressed to the max. He work all day long, owned lots of properties, and was not happy at all. He gave it all up… and now owns one acre garden and works in his garden and lives off his land. Now he has time to lay down in his hammock and take a nap, he lost weight… and feels better than ever. – True Story!

We’ve become a nation of quick fixes, we want a cure right now! But it takes time to figure out what the offending agent is using good old trial and error… and sometimes common sense.

Our overwhelming urge to take something is a symptom of our society, a society so stressed out, moving here and there, trying to get things done, that wants discomfort to disappear right away… so it can keep the mad pace going.

And that’s just the problem… we need to slow down and smell the roses. We need to give up lots of our desires in order to have more of what we really want — PEACE!

Then I would venture to say that 80% of our symptoms or more would disappear, and would have a lot less stress… and be happier at the same time.

Try living without taking any kind of drug, herb, or supplement as much as possible, and change your life if need be… and be much happier.

Try meditation, breath work, yoga, or just sitting in nature for 1 hour every day.

It might just change everything!
