Noni Fruit

Noni Fruit

Noni is a plant the grows in the tropics with a fruit that has many health benefits.

Where Found – Noni grows throughout the Pacific, Philippines, Hawaii, Australia, Caribbean, Asia, and India… and many other parts of the world.

Plant – Noni plants which are about 3 or 4 feet tall or taller grows wild. I have seen them growing around homes and near tourist centers. But as the fruit ripens and falls to the ground the smell is very pungent.

It’s not a plant you want to have close to the house unless you are constantly pick the fruit or compost them back into the soil.

Adaptogen – Noni is a good adaptogenic herb that helps to support the adrenals and works well for stress. Great for increased energy, vitality, and good mood.

Cancer – Studies suggest that noni could be used to help fight cancer. In one study mice were given noni that had cancer… they lived twice as long as those that were not given noni.

Damncanthol – Damncanthol is a powerful immune boosting agent that helps to repair DNA damage, and increases production of “T” cells in the body. “T” cells protect the body from immune mediated diseases such as Aids, cancer, autoimmune diseases, and much more. And Noni contains glycosides that scavenge up free radicals, thus slowing the aging process.

Antibacterial and Anti-fungal – Noni is a powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent because it contains limonene also found in citrus fruit and scopoletin a powerful microbial agent. A study in the “Journal of Applied Chemical Research” showed that noni was effective against many types of bacteria.

Anti-inflammatory Agent – Noni is a good anti-inflammatory agent that helps with arthritis, joint disease, liver, kidney, and stomach inflammation.

Allergies and Asthma – Noni helps with allergic reactions and also opens up the lungs because it’s a good vasodilator.

Immune System – Noni also helps to boost the immune system via powerful antioxidants. Noni contains polysaccharides that boost the immune system and thus helps to prevent cardiovascular disease, strokes, and cancer.

Antioxidants – Noni contains antioxidants similar to the ones found in green tea, also vitamin C a great antioxidant, and pycnogenol a powerful antioxidant that slows the aging process. And a study found in the “Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin” showed that noni could protect against damage to the brain caused by strokes.

Alkalizing Agent – Noni is a good alkalizing agent for the body. Acid leads to inflammation and inflammation leads to most of our modern diseases.

Lowers Cholesterol – Noni lowers cholesterol according to a study in the “Journal Lipids in Health and Disease”. Lowering cholesterol helps to prevent cardiovascular disease and strokes.

Anxiety and Depression – Noni contains scopoletin which increases serotonin levels in the brain… and thus helps to improve mood, get rid of anxiety, and promote feelings of well being.

Potassium – Noni contains lots of potassium which is great for regulating cardiovascular health and water regulation. Noni juice contains the same amount of potassium as found in cabbage and tomato juice.

Balance Blood Sugar – Noni is well known for balancing blood sugar levels. A study in the “Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Journal” it showed that noni was effective in lowering blood sugar.

Lowers Blood Pressure – Noni is a good vasodilator and thus helps to lower blood pressure. 85% of those taking noni show a decrease in blood pressure.

Fibromyalgia – Some people with fibromyalgia find noni increases their energy and vitality… plus they have less fibromyalgia symptoms.

Detoxing – Noni is also good for liver detoxing.

Pain – Noni also is a good analgesic that helps with pain in general. A study in Germany found in the Phytotherapy Research Journal showed that noni could help with relieving pain. Some call the noni plant the “Pain Killer Tree” or “The Tree for Headaches”.

Constipation – Noni contains soluble fiber that can help to soften stools… and noni can help with intestinal irritations.

Sleep – Because noni contains scopoletin it also combines with melatonin to improve sleep. And scopoletin also helps with regulating body temp and hunger.

Dose – Most people recommend taking 5 mls of noni juice twice a day for the first 3 or 4 days and then going up to 10 mls. Most people recommend taking noni for no longer than 2 to 3 months because of possible liver damage… even though liver damage is very rare. I personally recommend not taking any herb for longer than 7 to 10 days.

Easy Method – If you take a large glass jar and place a few noni fruits in it… and then cover it with water and place it in the frig for 10 days. The juice of the noni fruit will move out into the water creating noni juice. This is a very simple and easy way of making noni juice.

Taste – Noni is not the best tasting fruit around… but you can combine noni juice with other juices for better flavor.

Finding – You can order noni capsules, powder, and juice on-line, just google “Buy Noni” and lots of places will come up… even Amazon. And you can ask for noni at your local health food store.
