Names – Indian Snake Root is also called “Rauwolfia Serpentina” is a great herb for anxiety, stress, lowering blood pressure, and insomnia.
Grows – Indian Snake Root grows in the tropics and is common in India and tropical area of Asia. But has now has be transported around the world and grows in heavily forested moist soils. It has red and white flowers and makes a nice house plant.
Ayurvedic Medicine – In Ayurvedic Medicine indian snake root is primarily used for lowering blood pressure, insomnia, and for anxiety… and has been used successfully for 4,000 years. And Indian snake root is also used in Chinese Medicine.
Great Tranquilizer and Stress – Indian snake root is a wonderful tranquilizer that helps with stress and thus allows one to get the rest they need. In fact the great Indian leader Ghandi was reported to used Indian snake root on a regular basis for stress.
Lowers Blood Pressure – Indian snake root works very well for lowering blood pressure. A study of 200 people in China showed Indian snake root very effective in lowering blood pressure.
Diuretic – Indian snake root is a good diuretic and thus also helps to detox the body and get rid of excess water weight.
Itchy Skin – Indian snake root has also been used for treating itchy skin, hives, and rashes.
Dilates Blood Vessels – Indian snake root has the ability to dilate blood vessels, and that’s also one of the reasons it works well for lowering blood pressure.

Side Effects – Indian Snake Root should not be used for by those who are depressed, women who are pregnant, small children, those with GI problems, and should not be combined with alcohol or blood pressure medications and other medications. Always check with a Master Herbalist, Ayurvedic Practitioner, and your doctor before taking.
More – In the US and UK Indian snake root has been approved as prescription medication in pill and injectable form that doctors prescribe.
