“Here are 10 simple steps to healing constipation. Constipation is very uncomfortable and can lead to serious problems if not taken care of.”
First – Remove or moderate the following as much as possible. There are foods and other things that can create constipation including chocolate, eating lots of animal protein, dairy products, stress, antidepressant medications, prescription drugs, antacids, processed foods, fast food, lots of salt, lots of sugar, chemical additives, depression, alcohol, and much more.
Second – Eat at least 3 or 4 cups of whole organic veggies daily. Veggies such as cauliflower, kale, cabbage, celery, and lots of green leafy veggies are important for good elimination. The more raw veggies the better, raw veggies are good for the elimination and also provides live enzymes for a powerful immune system.
Third – Eat 4 or 5 whole organic fruits daily. Eating fruits like organic papaya, mangos, soursop, apples, oranges, persimmons, and figs will provide lots of fiber. Having 1/2 a medium organic papaya daily is a good way to get the colon moving with lots of fiber.
Fourth – Drink at least 7 to 8 full glasses of alkaline water daily. Drinking lots of water is important, without enough water our stools dry out creating constipation.
Fifth – Eat 1 cup of whole organic grains daily. Eating organic whole grains that are full of fiber such as brown rice, quinoa, millet, buckwheat (which is not a wheat at all) will end constipation. Always eat whole organic grains instead of processed food which has little or no fiber.
Sixth – Eat 1 cup of organic (Beans) legumes daily. Beans and lentils are full of great fiber and most people don’t eat enough fiber. In fact most people eat about 1/4 of the amount of fiber they need daily. The Mayo Clinic recommends people eat up to 34 grams of fiber daily, and one of the easiest ways to get fiber in our diet is with beans and lentils.
Seventh – Eat a small handful of nuts and seeds daily, and eat half an avocado daily. We need natural oils in our diet to lubricate our digestive system and the best way to do that is with natural oils found in nuts, seeds, and avocados. Daily enjoy one of the following – pumpkin seeds, walnuts, cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, and hemp seeds… also enjoy avocados.
Eighth – Learn Meditation to end stress and depression, take a TM Meditation Course or a Vipassana Meditation Retreat. Ninth – Probiotics – Take 4 capsules, 2 or 3 times a day for one week each month. Probiotic capsules can be found at local health food stores and drugstores. Find a probiotic supplement that contains at least 8 different probiotic bacteria. Our gut needs good bacteria in order to function correctly.
Tenth – Drink 2 cups of very warm water, all at once, first thing in the morning. Studies show that drinking very warm liquids first thing in the morning increases peristalsis of our gut. This could be hot water or herbal tea but it needs to be warm… that’s the key. Also some people find having a caffeinated beverage first thing in the morning gets their colon moving.
Following these 10 simple steps will end constipation.
