“Taking Responsibility for Our Own Health”

“A man said to his spouse, “Better take care of yourself dear because our kids won’t take care of you.” At that time this man didn’t take his medications, he missed all his doctors appointments causing doctors to refused to see him, and he did not exercise even when urged too… and so much more.”

Taking Responsibilty for Our Own Health

No one can force us take our medications, no one can make us eat right, no one can make us exercise, no one can make us get up early and get to bed at a reasonable hour, no one can make us relax and meditate, no one can make us take vitamins, supplements, and herbs.

This same man worked hard but his muscles where wasting away. When urged to workout with weights and build up his muscles by doctors his answer was “What do you want me to do… work all the time?” This is the “Always Me” cry of those who don’t want to take responsibility for their lives. – True Story

Another woman who knows she should take her blood sugar at regular intervals because she’s diabetic refuses to do so. She doesn’t want to be bothered… and this is a real challenge.

A lot of this has to do with repressed anger. It takes a lot of introspection, meditation, silent prayer, counseling, and much more to finally break down and find the truth about our past. And see that everything that happened in the past could have been taken in two different ways.

Perhaps a person who was abused could lifted themselves up, and made sure they never were abused again, and helped others who were abused (there are people who have done this) and they have gratitude for the past making them stronger.

Or they can go the other way and becoming completely angry and holding all that anger in with self denial and repression of all of their emotions. Saying “I don’t have anger issues” this is the calling card for those who have repressed emotions when confronted about their anger.

Some of them finally explode and get sent to anger management classes. Others keep going forever, never taking care of themselves, and wondering why their health is constantly on the edge and why they don’t have friends.

People try to help them and they become extremely angry or make up excuses. Others even resort to telling lies and try to get sympathy becoming the “Poor Me”.

But sooner or later in this life or another these people have a powerful breakthrough that changes their life forever, and they finally start taking responsibility for their health.

Of course if we have dementia, Alzheimers, and other diseases we need to rely on other people, but that’s not the majority of people. Most of us have everything in the way of physical and mental ability to take care of ourselves… but emotionally have tons of baggage that needs to be worked on.

Lets pray for those who don’t take care of themselves, and be thankful we’ve seen the light, knowing we’re totally responsible for our health and well being.
