Habitat – Kantakari is a thorny bush grows wild all over Asia and especially in India. Kantakari has purple flowers and green and yellow berries, and has been used successfully in Ayurvedic Medicine for hundreds of years.

Lung Problems – Kantakari is a bitter herb that opens up lung passages thus helping with asthma, bronchitis, and coughs do to colds and flues. Kantakari is helpful when histamine is depleted from lung tissue… also works well for bronchospasms during asthma attacks.

Diuretic – Kantakari is a very good diuretic helping to cleans the body of toxins. Taking a 1/3 teaspoon of the powder with honey will increase urine production.

GI Tract – Kantakari calms the GI tract, improves appetite, eliminates gas and constipation, and can even help with intestinal infections.

Contains – Acetylcholine, quercetin, histamine, fatty acids, sitosterol, neochronogenic acid, caffeic acid, and many more powerful compounds.

Sore Throats and Gum Disease – Kantakari is great for sore throats and irritated gums when used as a gargle and also works well for tonsillitis… because it contains antibacterial agents. Take a 1/2 teaspoon in warm water and gargle and rinse.

Earaches – Kantakari also works well for earaches. Take 1/2 teaspoon of the dried powder and add it to 1/4 cup of warm sesame oil, mix well, then add a few drops in each ear, letting sit for 15 minutes before removing.

Irregular Menstruation – Kantakari also helps normalize monthly periods.

Anti-inflammatory – Kantakari is a good anti-inflammatory herb that helps with arthritis, joint pain, muscle pain, and other inflammatory conditions.

Parts Used – The roots, berries, and the stems are all used in making the powder.

Dose – Most recommend taking 300 mgs to 1 gram of Kantakari – 3 times a day.
