Right now there are so many people with symptoms that don’t add up to anything that makes medical sense. People with pain that is so powerful that it keeps them in bed, they have muscular twitches, painful muscular contractions, chest pains, even colitis, diverticulitis, IBS, and a long list of symptoms that goes on forever that is directly related to stress. But there is help, much of this is being created by the increasing load of stress that everyone is feeling. We are moving much faster than ever before. Not long ago a woman who had terrible pain all over her body, pain that had no medical explanation was asked to go to a Free 10 Day Vipassana Meditation Retreat. Even the food and lodging is Free. This person was very hesitant to go to the retreat. But after much for urging the woman did sign up and take a Free 10 Day Vipassana Meditation Retreat. During the course of a retreat she found it almost impossible to make it to the fourth day. She wanted to get up and do something, and her mind was running like crazy… and she was uncomfortable with pain. But putting in 6 to 8 hours of meditation every day, finally had its benefits. On the fifth day there was a major breakthrough with a great feeling of peace that came over her being. This feeling of peace was so foreign that she could not understand it. She was in her late 40’s and from childhood through her 40s she had never felt this type of deep peace.
Also on the fifth day all of the pain that she had experienced most of her life disappear. It was as though she was sent to heaven, pain free, and was basking in the light of bliss. And she really did not understand why this was happening. But the truth of the matter is, just about everyone is overwhelmed with stress which is causing physical symptoms of one kind or another. The mind is a very interesting spiritual and biological creation. Our mind wants peace, but we have habits which have been created over decades, negative habits which creates stress, and we live in a stressful world… thus the mind has no way of finding peace. The fact our mind doesn’t even know what peace is from a cognitive stand point.
So in order to deal with some of the stress that the mind has to deal with, it tries to get our attention with pain. Our mind is sending us a message, it’s trying to get our attention, but many times we are not listening. And then the pain becomes even more unbearable, and we keep thinking that the pain is caused by something medical. But the reality is… we were not meant to deal with all the stress we have in this day and age. And because of that it’s very important that we create a healthy regimented way of living. The body loves regiment, it’s just our mind that gets bored.
Here are 10 important aspects of living that most people overlook.
To get up every day at the same time.
To exercise for one hour every day.
To eat healthy organic food.
To meditate for 20 to 30 minutes in the morning
and for 20 to 30 minutes in the evening every day.
To have time for prayer everyday.
To have time for being in nature everyday.
To interact with a community of loving people everyday.
To go to bed at the same time every day.
And to be filled with joyful gratitude for life.
Very few people have all 10 of these aspects in their life. But this is truly a recipe for healing most of the painful symptoms of stress that are creating havoc in our lives. It’s time to get back on track, time to take time for ourselves and create a life filled with deep enjoyment of being alive, instead of stress filled days. It’s all up to us, and I know we can accomplish this… if we make it a priority.
