People come down with the flu all year long but right now with the cold snap lots of people have come down with the flu. Here are a few things that can help heal the flu and shorten the duration of the flu.
First of all it’s important to rest, the body cannot recoup without laying down and sleeping when a person feels like sleeping. Someone else can take care of whatever needs to be done, we all have limitations an we have to take care of ourselves if we are to get well. Next— make sure to drink lots of fluids, dehydration from diarrhea, vomiting, and even coughing all the time can weaken a person and make the flu worse. Drink water, juice, and anything that is soothing and hydrating for the body. But stay away from salt, caffeine, and sugary foods that will dehydrate even more. And there is nothing like a nice cup of camomile tea to sooth away stress and help us rest.
Take 2 cloves of raw garlic twice a day, chop them up and swallow them they are good for boosting up the immune system. Also taking 3 or 4 cups of fresh ginger tea will help boost up the immune system. And taking 1.4 grams of Astragalus Root in capsules twice a day is important for boosting the immune system. And taking 2 – 500 mg capsules of elderberry is also important for activating the immune system. Elderberry has been shown to be able to shorten the duration of the flu by 50%. That means instead of having the flu for 10 days it can be shortened to 4 or 5 days. For those who have chest congestion taking 4 tablets—or 250 mg of platycodon root can also helps, it usually comes in Chinese formulas like “Bronchi Releever”. Also taking turmeric is very good for the flu, taking 1,200 mg of whole turmeric twice a day for the duration of the flu.
Take 3,000 mg of chlorella first thing in the morning. Chlorella contains up to 60 different nutrients and all the essential and none essential proteins our the body needs. Chlorella can be found on-line or at any health food store and comes in either 1000 mg tablets of 200 mg tablets. In the morning make sure to have some fruit, fresh fruit is good for the immune system, and fresh berries are great for the immune system. And if a person has an upset stomach take 2- 250 mg capsules marshmallow root, and 2 – 250 mg capsules of activated charcoal, both of those will sooth away stomach irritation. Also for a upset stomach making some simple veggie broth is very soothing for the tummy. Later when the stomach is calmed down adding some white rice to the veggie broth is good. I am not a fan of white rice but when a person is sick they need something that’s easily digestible… and that’s exactly what white rice is.
If a person is coughing and has lots of congestion taking 12 cloves of chopped organic garlic and add 12 eucalyptus leaves and bring it to a boil in one liter of water. Then place a towel over your head and breath in all the great smelling vapors, this will open up the sinuses and get rid of congestion.
If a person is not dehydrated and still has chest congestion then drinking a little black coffee might help. Coffee contains tehophylline which opens up the lungs and helps the heart to work more efficiently. Drink the black coffee early in the day to make sure you sleep well at night. Stay away from milk and nut milks they tend to cause congestion for those who have the flu. For a fever take 250 mg of white willow bark or one or two aspirin. Aspirin is still one of the best ways to lower a fever, but if a person is sensitive to aspirin take feverfew — 100 to 300 mg two or three times a day. And for those who have aches and pains take devils claw which is a great pain reliever and helps with inflammation. Take 2— 250 mg capsules of devils claw twice a day. And if devils claw doesn’t do the trick for the aches and pains try boswellia, boswellia is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory agent. Take boswellia at the rate of 4—250 mg capsules AM and PM. And only take boswellia for 7 days and then take a week off, and if need be come back to taking boswellia again for another week.
Also get out in the sun, take 15 to 30 minutes and do some sunbathing, it’s amazing what a little sun will do to brighten our mood and make us feel better. And when a person starts to feel better, don’t go back to the old routine, give yourself one or two more days to make sure you don’t relapse. But most of all go with the flow, and listen to your body, your body has wisdom and knows exactly what it needs.
All Will Be Well!
