“20 Health Benefits of Blueberry Leaves”

Blueberry leaves are full of amazingly powerful antioxidant that will help a person become healthy. And this wonderful tea has great anti-inflammatory abilities, and it also helps with allergies and with type 2 diabetes. With studies going all the way back to 1927 showing how powerful blueberry leaves can be for healing. Thus we have a great tasting tea that can heal the body in many ways.

Lots of Antioxidants – Studies that came out in 2009 in the Journal of Medicinal Food showed that blueberry tea is extremely high in antioxidants. In fact blueberry leaves contain 31 times more antioxidant polyphenols and anthocyanins than the berries themselves – Wow!

Lots of Vitamin C – Blueberry leaves also contain lots of Vitamin C which help to prevent colds, flues, and boost up our immune system.

Helps with Neurodegenerative Disease – Another study in 2013 showed that blueberry tea was so high in antioxidants that it could help to prevent and heal neurodegenerative disease, thus healing the brain and it’s mental capabilities. Thus blueberry leaves can improve a person memory and prevent cognitive decline that occurs with aging… and can also help with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Inflammation – A study in 2013 showed that blueberry tea contains the antioxidant gallic acid which helps with the redness, swelling, and pain associated with inflammation. And that means blueberry leaf tea can help to prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer, and strokes.

Lowers Triglycerides – Blueberry leaves also lower triglycerides by almost 40% and thus helping to prevent cardiovascular disease. — Amazing!

Lowers Blood Pressure – And blueberry leaves can also lower blood pressure.

Arthritis – Blueberry leaf tea helps with the pain and swelling of arthritis and joint pain.

Allergies – Studies show that blueberry leaves can help with the symptoms of allergic attacks and the inflammation associated with those symptoms.

Cancer – A study in the Journal of Medicinal Foods show that the powerful antioxidants in blueberry leaves can prevent free radical build up in the body thus helping to prevent breast, colon, prostate, cervical and lung cancer.

Skin Disease – Blueberry leaves contain chlorogenic acids which help heal inflammation of the skin. Blueberry leaves can also help to prevent and heal eczema, psoriasis, and other inflammatory skin diseases.

Taste – Blueberry leaf tea has a green grassy flavor similar to green tea, but many times dried blueberries are also added for extra flavor, and the tea can be mixed with other teas and with fruit juices.

Diabetes – A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that because blueberry leaf tea was so high in antioxidants that it could prevent and possibly heal type 2 diabetes. And clinical trials show that blueberry leaf tea can lower blood sugar by up to 27%.

Dose – Most people use 1 tablespoon of dried or fresh leaves steeped for 15 minutes in one cup of boiling water. Most people take from 1 to 5 cups of tea per day. In tincture form use 6 to 12 drops 3 or 4 times a day. In powder the dose is 300 to 500 mg three times a day.

Collecting for Tea – If a person lives in an area where they grow blueberries, the leaves can be collected and dried for making tea by drying in a cool dry place like other herbs.

    Can you boil blueberry leaves in water without losing its health benefits, orbit is better just to
    Let them sip in hot water as for any other type of tea?

    Blueberry leaves are the highest in anti-oxidants and anthocyanins in the fall and should be picked after they turn red.
    I picked some last Saturday and plan to make a tincture in an ultrasonic cleaner. It will be the first time for blueberry leaves, but I have had smashing success with other herbs and spices.

    • Great Enjoy … but this does not make up for not eating lots of great fruits and veggies… that is the most important…

    I have Sjogren’s and I just saw a study saying blueberry leaves helps to relieve dry eyes. I’m taking Xiidra but still have dryness and I’d like to have your impression. If you’d like me to share the article, I’d be happy to.
