“Proven Benefits of Organic Artichokes”
“Artichokes and Artichoke Extracts are Important for Great Health”
Many people take for granted how healing eating artichokes can be. These large thistle heads are super for cleansing our livers, thus keeping toxins from taking over our bodies. And for lower cholesterol and triglycerides and creating great GI health.
Where They Grow – Artichokes grow in moderate climates all over the world from California to Italy these delicious plants love cool weather so they don’t go to seed too fast and thus can be picked and sold as food. One of the biggest growing areas in the world is near Gilroy California where they produce millions of artichokes every year.
Lowers Cholesterol and Trigs – Studies in the Journal of Biological Trace Elements Research showed that when animals were feed artichokes their blood cholesterol and triglycerides dropped drastically. So it’s important to eat artichokes or take artichoke extracts to lower LDL or bad cholesterol and triglycerides. In fact artichokes can lower blood cholesterol by up to 20% which is really great.
Wonderful for Liver Detoxing – Studies show that artichokes also contain silymarin and cynarin which are powerful phytonutrients that help detox and heal the liver. And artichokes help the liver to produce more bile thus detoxing the liver even more. Anyone who’s really interested in good liver health should consider eating one artichoke weekly. And liver cleansing can help with symptoms such as dry mouth, feeling dizzy, having a lack of energy, headaches, skin irritations and more.
Good GI Health – Artichokes also stimulate the GI tract thus promoting good elimination. And they also sooth the GI tract and contain lots of inulin which is great food for probiotic bacteria which in turn boosts up our immune system and prevents disease. Eating artichokes can help with IBS, gas, indigestion, bloating, loss of appetite, stomachaches and other GI complaints. And a study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that artichokes worked great for healing IBS.
Lowers Blood Pressure – Artichokes contain a good amount of potassium which helps to lower blood pressure and regulate contractions of the heart.
Lots of Antioxidants – Artichokes contain lots of powerful antioxidants which are important for getting rid of free radicals thus slowing the aging process. And they also prevent and heal DNA damage thus helping to prevent disease. One cup of artichoke hearts or leaves contains more antioxidants than blueberries, cranberries, red wine, and even broccoli. In the Journal of American Clinical Nutrition it was found that one cup of artichokes provided more antioxidants than most foods.
Amazing Amount of Fiber – Artichokes contain more fiber than beans, more fiber than prunes, more fiber than wheat, more fiber than just about any other food. And fiber is very important for providing a good environment for the growth of probiotic bacteria.
B-Vitamins – Artichokes are also a good source of B-Vitamins such as folic acid thus helping to prevent brith defects, improve our mood, and increasing vitality.
Vitamin K – Artichokes contain lots of Vitamin K to prevent excessive clotting… thus helping to prevent heart attacks.
Manganese – Artichokes contain manganese which is important for enzyme production and maintaining every enzymatic process in the body.
Also Contains – Artichokes also contain Vitamin A, C, which are powerful antioxidants, calcium for strong bones, iron for anemia, chromium for good metabolism, and zinc for a powerful immune system.
Cancer Prevention – Artichokes also help to prevent cancer such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, and leukemia because they contain powerful antioxidants such as quercitin, rutin, and gallic acid which kill cancer cells in laboratory studies. Studies at Comenius University in Slovakia showed that artichoke extract was very good at inhibiting leukemia cells.
Good Mood – Eating Artichokes and taking artichoke extracts can boost up our mood because artichokes contain forskolin which is important for healing nerve cells… thus producing a good mood and better memory.
Finding – Artichokes when in season can be found in any good supermarket. And artichoke extract can be found at any health food store, or ordered on-line and can be found on Amazon and Ebay.
Dose for Extract – Most people take 300 to 450 mg 3 times a day for 10 days. But eating fresh organic artichokes also works great.
Recipes – If you google “Plant Based Artichoke Recipes” lots of healthy recipes will come up. Artichokes are great but skip the mayo it’s really fattening, and add artichokes hearts to casseroles, dips, soups, stews, and salads for a very healthy meal.
Enjoy Artichokes– I Love Them!
Many Blessings to Everyone
