The cooking herb thyme has been around for over 2,000 years and goes all the way back to the Egyptians and the Greeks and Hippocrates talked about thyme as a great healing agent. And thyme as been revered as a very powerful healing agent that helps with GI distress, boosts our immune system, helps with nagging coughs, lowers blood pressure, improves our mood… and so much more.
Where it Grows – Thyme grows all over the world, in fact there are very few places on earth where thyme doesn’t grow. Thyme likes rich loamy soil and a moderate amount of water with good drainage and lots of sun.
Lowers Blood Pressure – Animal studies show that thyme lowers blood pressure and some people are also using thyme as a substitute for salt thus also lowering their blood pressure even more.
Soothes the GI Tract – Thyme and thyme oil sooth away stomachaches, indigestion, heartburn, and other digestive challenges.
Lots of Antioxidants – Thyme contains a good amount of Vitamin C for preventing colds, flues, and other diseases. It also contains Vitamin A for boosting up our immune system and creates healthy mucus membranes. Thyme contains Thymonin, luteolin, apigenin, and naringenin all of which are powerful antioxidants which help to slow the aging process and prevent and repair DNA damage thus preventing disease.
Vaginal Infections – Dilute thyme oil can also heal vaginal infections.
Gum Infections – Thyme oil diluted to 0.1% makes a healing gargle for gum and mucus membrane infections.
Creates Good Mood – A study in 2013 with thyme which contains carvacrol a powerful agent for improving neurotransmitter activity showed that people taking thyme for a few days felt happier. And thyme can help with fatigue, anxiety, and depression… and thyme can also help a person sleep better.
Contains Omega 3 Oils – Thyme also contains a small amount of omega 3 fatty acids which help prevent cardiovascular disease and improve our mood.
Helps with Respiratory Disease – New studies show that thyme contains lots of powerful agents that open up the lungs allowing for easier breathing. Thyme is great for those who suffer from bronchitis, asthma, coughs, and other respiratory challenges. Thyme contains thymol, carvacolo, geraniol, and borneol dilate bronchi for easier breathing. And using thyme oil in humidifiers helps with sinus and respiratory infections.
Powerful Antibacterial Agent – Thyme contains agents that kills bacteria such as Staph, E Coli, Shigella, and Bacillus infections.
Skin Infections and Acne – 1 % thyme oil works wonders for healing rashes and wounds and for healing acne.

Use as Incense – For thousands of years thyme as been dried and burned in temples for spiritual rituals.

Culinary Uses – Thyme has been used down through the centuries for adding spice to soups, stews, meats, fish, casseroles, and many more dishes and it’s also used in poultry seasoning.
Thyme Tea – Thyme tea is very popular and very healing, and it’s a great alternative to coffee and black tea. Take a teaspoon of dried thyme and steep for 10 minutes in a cup of boiling water and drink.
Grow some thyme, have some thyme tea, and keep thyme on hand at all times.
