“Some Call Kombucha Tea —The Miracle Cure”
Kombucha tea has been around for hundreds of years and there are many people who swear it’s amazing healing for all kinds of disease processes. And kombucha tea is easy and inexpensive to make. Kombucha can help heal the liver, it’s great for the kidneys, it’s full of probiotics for boosting up our immune system, it lowers blood sugar a bit, helps with ulcers and the GI tract in general, and so much more. But kombucha tea does contain a small percentage of alcohol, in the commercial brands less than 0.5 percent which is considered to be alcohol-free.
Full of Probiotic Bacteria – Kombucha tea contains lots of probiotics for boosting up our immune system. Most people only have a 1/2 pound of good bacteria in their gut and should have about 4 or 5 pounds of probiotics in their colon. Because of poor diet, bad bacteria take over which create toxins in our body— which create inflammation, disease, and pain.
Protects the Stomach Lining – Kombucha tea contains agents that help protect the lining of the GI tract and especially the stomach. Thus helping to prevent gastric ulcers and other inflammatory processes.
Tastes Great – Kombucha tea has a fizziness similar to soda, and a fresh bright taste which is slightly sweet— it tastes great.
Full of Antioxidants – Kombucha is full of powerful antioxidants that help to prevent disease and promote good health similar to green tea— because it does contain lots of powerful polyphenols.
Lowers Blood Sugar – Kombucha also helps to lower blood sugar slightly. The BioMed Central Complementary and Alternative Medicine journal said: “The findings revealed that kombucha tea administration induced attractive curative effects on diabetic rats, particularly in terms of liver-kidney functions. Kombucha tea can, therefore, be considered as a potential strong candidate for future application as a functional supplement for the treatment and prevention of diabetes.”
Boosts Our Immune System – Anything that contains lots of probiotics will boost up our immune system and prevent disease… so kombucha is great!
Liver Support – Kombucha tea helps to detox the body and protect the liver from toxins. And kombucha tea also works wonders to prevent liver challenges caused by stress. And our liver is one of our first lines of defense for our body and if our liver is working correctly… we will be healthy.
Helps with Lung Challenges – Kombucha used as an inhalant works great in animal models to remove silica from the lungs. Those what work in construction sometimes come down with silica intoxication and kombucha is one of the few things that can help. Kombucha also helps with asthma, bronchitis, and coughs in general.
Lowers Cholesterol – Kombucha also helps to lower LDL or Bad cholesterol and increase HDL or Good cholesterol. Thus helping to prevent cardiovascular disease, strokes, and cancer.
Good for the Kidneys – Kombucha tea is also good for the kidneys over the long run. It’s not an instant healing by any means but will do the kidneys good with lots of antioxidants and powerful enzymes. And some people like Gunter Frank feel it can turn around kidney disease around in one year… but I have not seen this happen myself. The Internal Journal of Food Biology found that “The findings revealed that KT (Kombucha Tea) administration induced attractive curative effects on hypercholesterolemic, particularly in terms of liver–kidney functions in rats.” But kombucha tea should be used in moderation by those suffering from kidney disease.
Antibacterial – Kombucha tea is a good antibacterial agent thus helping to keep a person healthy and prevent infections.
Cancer – Kombucha tea has been shown to slow the growth of cancer cells and kill cancer cells in laboratory studies – more studies to be done.
How to Make Kombucha Tea – There are lots of starter kits that are sold on Amazon and eBay and they are easy to use. Use sterile containers and add the contents of the kit and wait 14 days and you have kombucha tea. Then from that tea, another batch of tea can be made by using a little bit of the fungus that’s growing on top to inoculate the next batch.
Finding – If you google “How to Make Kombucha Tea at Home” lots of recipes will come up… and it’s pretty simple and inexpensive. And almost all health food stores carry Kombucha tea in their refrigerator section.
Side Effects – If your kombucha tea becomes contaminated it can be life-threatening… so be sure your tea does not become contaminated. If your tea changes color or if starts growing mold throw it out and start over. This is nothing to play with contaminated tea is extremely toxic. And there are those who say kombucha tea has no proof of being beneficial in humans. It’s amazing that kombucha was going to be pulled from the shelves of health food stores because it contained a little bit of alcohol— I find that fishy. I believe anything that contains antioxidants and probiotics is amazingly beneficial. But of course, those who are nursing, pregnant, or young children should not drink kombucha tea.
And there are hundreds of other claims about the healing abilities of kombucha tea. Personally, I feel kombucha tea is a great probiotic boosting agent and it does contain some antioxidants and works great for the GI tract. Eat and drink lots of fermented foods they are good for the body in general. But eating or drinking copious amounts of anything is not good— remember there must be balance in all things.
