“12 Foods that Help with Stress and Anxiety”

“Feel Relaxed and Calm by Eating These 12 Foods Daily”

Here are some very relaxing foods that help your mind and body to relax and help with stress and anxiety. There is nothing simpler than relaxing with what you eat every single day.

“12 Foods that Help with Stress and Anxiety”- Rice and Beans Help with Stress and Anxiety

1 – Rice and Beans – Brown rice has been shown in studies to relax, soothe, and get rid of stress. It contains lots of good B-Vitamins which are important for good mood, and for the production of serotonin and dopamine so we feel relaxed and have a great mood. Beans such as kidney beans are high in tryptophan which helps with stress and anxiety. And beans are high in proteins that help with neurotransmitter production which helps to relax and get rid of stress. Rice beans are a great way to calm the body and relax the mind.

2 – Oatmeal – Oatmeal helps the brain to produce more serotonin thus you feel relaxed and calm. And oatmeal also helps the brain to produce more dopamine thus you feel great and are more relaxed. Plus it helps the body absorb more tryptophan which is very relaxing and contains lots of Vitamin B-6 which is great for good mood and stress. One of my favorite snacks is oatmeal and bananas.

3 – Lotus Seeds – Lotus seeds contain isoquinoline alkaloid that’s a great relaxing agent, anti-spasmodic agent, (At the Institute for Traditional Medicine in Oregon they recommend Lotus Seeds for insomnia, restlessness, and heart palpitations). And Lotus Seeds dilate arteries and blood vessels thus helping to lower blood pressure. Lotus Seeds are low in fat, have a good amount of protein, are cholesterol-free, and are full of carbs that are important for instant energy. They also contain iron for preventing anemia, calcium for strong bones, potassium for cardiovascular health and for water regulation, phosphorus for regulation of hormones and proper mental function, manganese for lowering blood sugar and good metabolism, and B Vitamins for stress and anxiety.

4 – Fava Beans – Fava beans contain lots the chemical agent L-Dopa which helps in the creation of dopamine in the brain, plus epinephrine and norepinephrine which are important for stress and good mood. And L-Dopa helps to prevent Parkinson’s Disease… and a diet rich in fava beans might help to prevent Parkinson’s and also dystonia disorder which is also healed with L-Dopa. Fava beans are full of lots of great B-Vitamins which are important for preventing birth defects, creating a good mood, and for relaxing.

5 – Veggie Soup – There is nothing more relaxing and soothing than vegetable soup. Full of lots of B-Vitamins that help with stress and anxiety and lots of magnesium which also helps to calm and soothe. Make sure to include garlic, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, rutabagas, turnips, and other root veggies that help you relax.

6 – Bananas – Most people would not think of bananas as relaxing but they do contain magnesium, potassium, and tryptophan which all help with stress and anxiety. Enjoy one banana daily… but don’t overdo it… they do contain lots of calories.

7 – Perilla Seeds and Leaves – Because of all the powerful antioxidant properties of Perilla seeds and leaves they have a major effect on our dopamine centers in our brain thus helping to make us feel happier. And it also helps to optimize brain function and help with memory. The University of Maryland Medical also found that ALA found in Perilla Seeds can help with depression. Thus they help a person relax and feel soothed… making them a great food in the evening. The seeds can be used in tempura and miso, the seeds are also good in salads, and they are great in soups, stews, veggie dishes, and other dishes. And the leaves can be used in salads and eaten raw any time. Plus the stems can be pickled and they are wonderful that way.

8 – Fox Nuts – Fox Nuts are soothing and relaxing and thus they help with stress and insomnia. More than likely this has to do with all the magnesium Fox Nuts contain which is very relaxing. Fox Nuts are very low in sodium thus they help to lower blood pressure. And Fox Nuts contain up to 14% of our daily needs of potassium thus helping to regulate blood pressure and help with heart contractions. Fox Nuts can be popped like popcorn and they are delicious and look similar to popcorn. Avoid frying Fox Nuts because you lose the nutrition and with all that oil they are fattening… use an air popper or an air fryer instead. Fox Nuts have a mild flavor and pick up any flavor that you put with them… just like popcorn. Great with salt and pepper or salt alone or chili powder and other seasonings.

9 – Malanga Root – Malanga root or sometimes called Yarrow Root is a large root veggie that’s similar to a potato but much large… and it’s very creamy when cooked. Most malanga is white inside with slight purple specks throughout the flesh. And it’s very tasty with a nutty flavor, and malanga can be used just like potato… but it’s even healthier… and like potato, it must be cooked. Malanga also contains B-Vitamins that are relaxing and soothing and some Vitamin C, and malanga also contains more magnesium, and phosphorus, and potassium than that found in potatoes. Magnesium is important for enzyme production and is important for stress and anxiety, potassium for cardiovascular health, and phosphorus for strong bones. And malanga also contains calcium and iron for strong bones and anemia.

10 – Green Leafy Veggies – One study about green leafy veggies had over 500 people participate, those that ate a diet similar to that found in Japan with lots of veggies, mushrooms, and fruits were less likely to have depression and were much more relaxed and had less anxiety. But those who ate lots of meat had low tryptophan levels which is important for keeping away depression and feeling calm and relaxed.

11 – Chlorella – Chlorella Green Algae is important for stress and anxiety, helping to prevent stress-related disease… and also gives you the nutrition you need during stressful situations. And studies show that chlorella may even prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. Many feel Chlorella helps them relax and have a clear mind… and feel better in general. And people with fibromyalgia with depression feel they can resume their regular activities when taking lots of Chlorella. Take at least 3000 mg daily and add it to your smoothies.

12 – Yams and Sweet Potatoes – Sweet potatoes and yams are full of magnesium. And most people never get enough magnesium which helps a person feel relaxed and is important in the integrity of blood vessels, heart, nerves, and bones. And you can get Vitamin D from Sweet Potatoes which is great for enhancing your mood and boost of energy, and build a strong and vital organ system. Sweet Potatoes are full of B-6 Vitamins which is great for reducing inflammation and which also helps reduce arthritis, cardiovascular problems, and also strokes. And also help to sooth away anxiety and stress and uplift our mood.

Enjoy these foods daily and feel relax, calm, and peaceful.

Many Blessings to Everyone!
