Loquats are fruits from a tree that grows all over the world and especially in Asia, and there are many trees growing in the US. And the leaves of the tree have many health benefits that are important for good health.

Drink Loquat Leaf Tea for Great Health

Where it Grows – Loquat trees grow all over Asia, Japan, China, Korea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Europe, Lebanon, Turkey, Pakistan, and also in the US, California, Florida, and other states… and just about any climate. 

Other Names – Loquat trees are also called Eriobotrya japonica in Latin, also Japanese Medlar, Japanese Plum, Chinese Plum, and other names. 

Helps with Weight Loss – Loquats leaves can be made into a wonderful tea that’s a powerful appetite suppressor that helps with food cravings… and gives you a full feeling… and thus helps you lose weight. And some studies show that Loquat Leaf Tea helps to suppress fat formation. 

Great for Type 1 and 2 Diabetes – And also works well for lowering blood glucose and regulating insulin production and utilization. In fact, in China Loquat tea has been approved by the government for treating diabetes. Loquat Leaf Tea contains chemicals such as tormentic acid that helps with insulin production and lowers glucose. And it may even be possible that Loquat Leaf Tea can regenerate insulin-producing cells in the body (More studies to be done)… thus helping to support the pancreas. Many people who find that their insulin does not work for them… find that Loquat Leaf Tea does lower their blood sugar.

Anti-Viral Agent – Loquat Leaf Tea is a good anti-viral agent too that contains triperpene,, megastimine glycosides, 2-alpha-hydroxyurolic acid, and polyphenol compounds that have a powerful effect on the common cold and flu… and seems to work well on the HIV virus too, and it may be a good anti-cancer agent.

Anti-Cancer Activity – Loquat Leaf Tea also in studies shows that it can suppress cancer cells at different stages. (More studies to be done)

Contains – Loquat Leaves contain lots of iron for anemia, calcium for strong bones, potassium for cardiovascular health and water regulation, phosphorus for brain function and protein formation, and Vitamin A and Vitamin C which are great antioxidants.

Taste of the Tea – The tea is sweet, earthy, mild, and with honey or stevia it’s delicious. 

Forms – Loquat leaves can be found as fresh and dried leaves, powders, capsules, teas, oils, creams, ointments, and trees to plant. 

Finding – You can order Loquat Leaf Tea on-line or ask for it at your local health food store and you can find it on amazon.com and eBay.com and the trees are also available to grow your own tree. 

Making Tea – Take one large leaf or 1 tablespoon of fresh or dried leaf and cut them up to the size of your thumbnail and place in a large cup. Add boiling water and steep for 15 minutes, let cool and drink 2 or 3 times a day for no more than 7 to 10 days. Do not use metal cups to make this tea or metal tea infusers. 

Dose – Take 2 or 3 cups of tea daily for no more than 7 to 10 days. Then take a week off and repeat if needed. In powder form take from 3 to 5 grams daily. 

Cost – Dried Loquat leaves run about $20 for 250 grams. 

Side-Effects – Loquat Leaf Tea should only be used in moderation… it is very safe. There has been one reported challenges caused by someone using this tea in high doses which caused inflammation and weakness but they are not sure if it was the tea that caused the challenge. Use this tea for no more than 7 to 10 days. But in studies with animals with very high doses… they showed no toxicity of any kind… so it is very safe. But of course, Loquat Leaf Tea should not be used by those who are pregnant, nursing, or by small children.
